Quick Tips On Buying Best Halogen & LED Headlight Bulbs

Now that we have had a look at some of the various options available to you, I’m going to take you through some of the different things you should look for while looking for the optimum bulbs for you and for your vehicle.

If you’re looking for very bright, clear, night driving fun then the higher the lumens the better, but make sure that the bulbs you buy comply to U.S DOT regulations. Also consider that sometimes if the brightness is too high, others may think that you are driving around with your full beam on constantly. Don’t make it too bright for other road users.

The lower the wattage the more economical your bulbs will be, economy in vehicles comes down to fuel usage so take this into consideration.

Most of us avoid going swimming with our vehicles, but if it’s something you want to factor in then remember what the different ratings mean. IP67 is good for a quick shallow dip, IP68 means if your vehicle gets stuck in water for longer they will not fail on you.

You need to decide what is value for money for you. Don’t forget that the most expensive isn’t always the best. The range of products available is extensive, so there is something for all budgets.

There is a huge difference in the lifespan between Halogen and LED, but also the lifespan between different LED bulbs can be vast. So, if you want something that’s longer lasting then stick with the bulbs that last 50,000 hours or more.

LED or Halogen - Which one is preferred

When you are looking for the best H11 bulb for your vehicle, then choosing is not going to be easy with such a huge range available. Only you can decide whether you want to go for LED or Halogen as a starting point.

I am personally very pro LED, although the bulbs are bigger compared to the OEM halogens because of the fan in the back of the bulb. This usually doesn’t get in the way of fitting, and they snap right into place. During installation just follow all the instructions, but make sure if changing from Halogen to LED, that your vehicle is compatible when your making your purchase.

So, the performance. Firstly, I’d like to say that yes, LEDs are bright, and they do work as advertised.

They put out a very clean and consistent light beam, unlike the Halogens which put out brighter light in the center of their beam, the LEDs have a much more consistent beam and they also look noticeably brighter.

LED also have a more consistent “white” color, and a more consistent pattern in the beam overall. The fact that the LEDs are estimated to have a lifetime of 50k hours is an amazing feature but that does come at a cost.

The price of LED is far more than a halogen bulb, but there are some very good economical LEDs available too, LEDs are more energy efficient, they light up quicker, and let’s face it they are replacing the bulbs we use in every part of our life.

Now that we have looked at some of the best H11 bulbs on the market today, I hope that it will help to make your choice that little bit easier. There are so many choices out there I honestly do not think that I could say that there is a perfect option.

It all boils down to personal taste on brightness, coloring, and your beam splash, while looking at the big question of do I stick with good faithful halogens or swap to LEDs. My personal opinion is to go for the more consistent and brighter LED, although I will be making sure they don’t dazzle everyone else on the road.
